I get it - you desperately need live chat for your website, so you can convert website visitors into customers. But there are 1000s of different live chat products that you’re simply not sure which one to choose.

Right?

Well, this article will help you to find the best live chat software for your business.

From 1000+ different live chats on the market, I decided to offer you six best choices.

Wondering how I chose 6 best live chat software?

Easily. I just asked people in different communities on what are they using.

As you can see, there are more than 150 people who gave me their opinions and feedback on different live chats.

Not to mention a couple of other communities where I got 5,6, responses each. Totally, it makes more than 200 surveyed people.

So yes, these best 6 live chat products are chosen by real people - not me.

And this entire article is based on their feedback and opinions.

After I took these 6 best live chats in consideration, I actually tried each of those tools for one week, so I can give you the most relevant feedback as possible.

So, by the survey, 5 best live chat software for your business might be:

  • lemtalk
  • LiveChat Inc
  • Intercom
  • Crisp
  • Tawk

If you don’t want to read all in-depth reviews, you can just jump at the end of this article and check detailed comparison table I specially made for you.

Before we actually see each of these tools, it’s important to mention that all of those live chat products are pretty much the same in terms of some features - all of them offer you full customization, triggered messages and other things. Of course, there are a couple of features that are specific for some particular live chat.

Because of this, when it comes to choosing the best live chat software for your business, it isn’t important how many features the product has.

To make it simpler and more intuitive, I decided to give “scores” to each of those live chats.

So, I’m going to score each live chat software by the following criteria:

  • Easiness of setting up (1-5)
  • Easiness of use (1-5)
  • Value for money (1-5)
  • Customization options (1-5)
  • Customer Support (1-5)
  • Power of Slack Integration

So let’s get started.

lemtalk - Live Chat that’s fully integrated into Slack

Lemtalk is the live chat and customer support app that’s fully integrated into Slack.

In other words, in order to use lemtalk and to chat with your website visitors, you will need to use Slack first.

With lemtalk, you can receive and answer all of your customer support messages directly from Slack - whether they came through Email, SMS, Facebook or Live Chat.

Lemtalk is made with one purpose - to enable busy teams to efficiently support and generate leads on their website through Slack. So, instead of using multiple Live Chat and customer support windows and products, you will only need to use one single Slack channel.

Here’s how it looks in practice:

Pretty simple, right?

You don’t have 100s of different tabs to use. You just have one Slack channel.

The good thing about lemtalk is that you can also build the FAQ page.

When it comes to customer support, you will see that all pricing plans receive priority support. All of our customers are important, so we don’t want to divide them by the amount of money they’re paying to us.

Even more, I know this sounds like bragging - but it isn’t, after you start using lemtalk, you will see that we’re the funny crew that always wants to help our customers :)

lemtalk’s Pricing

Lemtalk’s pricing is pretty much straight-forward. There are no hidden fees. Unlike other live chat tools, lemtalk doesn’t price you per agent or per monthly conversations.

There are three different packages, and in all three of them, you have unlimited agents and unlimited conversations. Not to mention that you will also have priority support whether you’re in the startup or agency plan.

In other live chat products, the more your team grows the more you pay. In lemtalk it’s a different case. You will pay the same amount of money whether you have 5 team members or 100. So your expenses won’t be bigger and bigger.

Lemtalk’s scores as the live chat software

  • Easiness of setting up - 5
  • Easiness of use - 5
  • Value for money - 5
  • Customization options - 4
  • Customer Support - 5
  • Power of Slack Integration - 5

Total score: 4,8

Is lemtalk the best live chat software for you?

Just to mention that lemtalk is definitely not a good choice for big companies, enterprises and business that are looking for advanced customer support and live chat tools.

In lemtalk you get almost everything like in any other live chat tool, but its offer is specialized for SMBs.

So, if:

  • You’re the SMB
  • You’re looking to simplify your customer support and lead generation processes
  • You’re looking for the simple live chat solution that will satisfy your needs and help you to convert 3X more website visitors
  • You’re using Slack daily so you need Live Chat software that’s fully integrated into Slack
  • And you don’t mind receiving all of your customer support messages in one place,

Then lemtalk is the best live chat software for your business.

LiveChat Inc is on the market for several years now. It has a lot of customers. Actually, according to BuiltWith, LiveChat Inc is currently using more than 120.00+ websites worldwide.

Without a doubt, it’s a really good live chat solution. It’s relatively easy to use and set-up. It has a lot of integrations with different tools (which make it really good for big companies and enterprises).

Although it has a wide range of customization options, they are a little bit outdated.

Don’t get me wrong - you can customize a lot of things, but the majority of them looks very much 00s.

Unfortunately, LiveChat Inc doesn’t have Slack integration - even the most basic one that notifies you when you have a new message. This can be a problem if you’re using Slack and if you find this important (believe - it can be).

In my opinion, their customer support isn’t great, but it isn’t bad as well. They’re pretty much responsive (it took them around 1 - 3 hours to respond), but sometimes they’re not helping too much.

LiveChat Inc’s Pricing

LiveChat Inc is a pretty expensive tool. It has three different pricing plans (except the enterprise one that’s priced by quote).

The basic plan starts at $16/mo per agent when billed annually. Unfortunately, in the basic plan, you will have only the basic features - you can only customize and chat with your customers with 60-day chat history and without reporting.

The middle plan starts at $33/mo per agent when billed annually while the highest plan starts at $50/mo per agent when billed annually.

Because of its pricing, LiveChat Inc isn’t suitable for SMBs - but it’s a really good tool for Enterprise companies who have a bigger budget.

LiveChat Inc’s scores as the live chat software

  • Easiness of setting up - 5
  • Easiness of use - 4
  • Value for money - 4
  • Customization options - 3
  • Customer Support - 4
  • Power of Slack Integration - 0

Total score: 3,3

Is LiveChat Inc the best live chat software for you?

LivChat Inc has a lot of features and different integrations - without a doubt, it’s a great live chat software. It lacks some basic things, but it’s nothing too important.

Because of its relatively high pricing, LiveChat Inc definitely isn’t a good live chat software for SMBs, but it’s one of the best solutions for large enterprise companies.

Intercom - great live chat software for enterprise companies

Intercom started its journey as the live chat software - but after some time, they became much more than that. Right now, Intercom can be considered as the all-in-one customer support and sales software.

Because of this, its originally value proposition as the live chat software is somehow less valuable - since it diversified its services on much wider territories.

Although, I can’t say that their live chat software is bad. It’s actually really good - you can do all the things you can do in other live chat products as well.

It’s relatively easy to set-up and use.

For me, customer support wasn’t helpful at all, and after I researched a little bit, I found out that I’m not the only one who thinks that:

As I said, Intercom has a good live chat - but it’s not the core of its business and value proposition. Other things, such as bots or product tours are enjoying a much bigger focus from the Intercom’s team.

Live chat is good, but the real Intercom’s problem are starting with their prices.

Let’s see them.

Intercom’s Pricing

I used and reviewed a lot of different SaaS tools, and I never saw more confusing and complicated pricing than Intercom has.

Intercom’s live chat starts with $87/mo for 200 conversations (in three months!) and 2 agents. As your number of conversations and agents grow, you will suddenly end up paying a lot of money for Intercom.

As you grow, in the most basic plan you will end up paying $87/mo + $19/mo (per every other agent) + $15/mo approximately for additional 300, 500 or 1000 active people in 90 days.

The image will explain better, but it’s still very confusing and it has a lot of hidden fees you won’t be aware of:

Intercom’s scores as the live chat software

  • Easiness of setting up - 5
  • Easiness of use - 5
  • Value for money - 2
  • Customization options - 4
  • Customer Support - 3
  • Power of Slack Integration - 4

Total score: 3,8

Is Intercom the best live chat software for you?

Without a doubt, even if it has very complicated pricing, Intercom is a great product - but again, not for SMBs.

Pretty much fast you can end up paying $500+ for Intercom. On the other hand, if you’re the enterprise and if you need much more than a simple live chat software and if you’re seeking for the more robust all-in-one customer support platform and if you don’t mind paying too much for Intercom, then it might be a good tool for you.

Crisp - Basic Live Chat Software

Crisp is one of the well-known live chat products, and without a doubt, I really needed to include it into the list of the best live chat software for your business.

It’s really simple tool, and the installation is done under 1-minute. It has a good customization options, and the support team is responsive and helpful.

It has full Slack integration - which means that you can receive and answer all of your live chat messages from Slack - but unlike lemtalk, you can’t receive emails, SMS messages and Facebook messages inside your Slack - so there are other alternatives of Crisp if you’re planning to use live chat that’s fully integrated into Slack.

The weird thing about Crisp is that it also offers you the possibility to send email campaigns.

To be honest, I didn’t really want to test this feature, so I can’t tell you is it good or bad. I’m using lemlist on my daily basis for email campaigns so I didn’t want to mess-up my emails and deliverability rate.

Overall, crisp is a good tool - but very basic ones (in the free plan). It misses the multilingual live chat and push notifications that are triggered by user’s behaviour on your website.

If you want advanced features, you will need to choose the highest package possible.

Crisp’s Pricing

Crisp’s pricing is pretty much straightforward. You have the lifetime free plan with 2 agents, Pro plan for $25/mo with 4 agents, and Unlimited plan for $95/mo with unlimited agents.

Note that in the Basic plan you only have the possibility to live chat with your customers - without integrations, customization or any other things.

Crisp’s scores as the live chat software

  • Easiness of setting up - 5
  • Easiness of use - 5
  • Value for money - 4
  • Customization options - 4
  • Customer Support - 4
  • Power of Slack Integration - 3

Total: 4,2

Is Crisp the best live chat software for your business?

Crisp is a good tool for SMBs - but it’s not the best for enterprises. Although it has the lifetime free plan, if you want more advanced features you will need to pay for the highest package, or at least the medium one (but you also have a couple of restrictions over there).

Overall, if you’re looking for just the basic chat and if you have less than 2 agents, then Crisp can be a good tool for you.

If the power of Slack integration is important for you (and if you’re already using a Slack than having a good live chat that’s fully integrated into Slack will save you a ton of time), then Crisp is the good, but not the best live chat software on the market.

Tawk - completely free live chat solution

Tawk is a completely free live chat solution for your business. There are not paid plans at all.

You can install the live chat widget and text with your customers whenever you want - and you won’t be billed.

Thus, this makes Tawk a great live chat solution for small companies with 1 - 3 employees.

It’s lifetime free and it supports only basic functions that live chat should have. There is no Slack integration.

You’re probably wondering yourself right now how Tawk makes money?

It offers you agents for your live chat if you don’t want to personally live chat with your potential customers. The price of the agents is $1/hr.

Tawk’s scores as the live chat software

  • Easiness of setting up - 5
  • Easiness of use - 4
  • Value for money - 5
  • Customization options - 4
  • Customer Support - 4
  • Power of Slack Integration - 0

Total: 3.6

Is Tawk the best live chat software for your business?

If you’re the small team with 1 - 3 employees and you’re not looking for advanced live chat features or slack integration, than Tawk can be a good choice for you since it’s completely free.
